Dave is the essence of the “helpful hardware man”. His main focus is on his customers and his community. He makes every effort to ensure all Dave’s Ace customers are served quickly, courteously and with expertise. Dave began his career in 1977 working for Don Hillestad at the Milton Ace Hardware. In 1988, he moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked as a home builder. In 1991, he returned to Milton and purchased the store from then owners, Richard and Martha Johnson. In 2003, he purchased the Ace Hardware of Evansville from Gordon and Margaret Brigham. A Milton resident for most of his life, Dave is committed to the betterment of the communities he serves by sharing both his time and his funds. In 1995, Dave was chosen co-Citizen of the Year by the Milton Kiwanis Club. He served as the Milton Municipal Judge from 1995 – 1997. He is an honorary Milton Emergency Medical Technician, having served from 1983 – 1988. He is a past Board member of the North Rock County Red Cross and served one term as the Chairman. He is a past member of the Midwest Hardware Association, serving as the President in 2004, and a member of the North American Retail Hardware Association Legislative Leadership Council, currently serving as Chairman. He is also a member of the Janesville Rotary Club currently serving as President Elect. Dave is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie course in Human Relations and Public Speaking. He is a licensed private pilot with an instrument rating and a graduate of the Skip Barber auto racing school. In his limited spare time, he likes to play golf, cook and travel. Dave and his wife, Lori, a Spanish teacher, have one daughter, Savannah.
