As soon as she graduated from Milton High School in 1978, Carla started full-time at Milton’s ACE Hardware. When her husband’s job took him to Madison, Carla, Jim, and their family moved to that city. After several years, they moved back to Milton and in 1994, Carla got her job back at ACE. She said that Phyllis "begged" her to come back! Carla’s husband, Jim, is a field service manager for Mid-States Concrete in South Beloit. They have two daughters, Mandy and Megan. Some of the departments Carla is in charge of are gifts, cleaning (including vacuum cleaners), light bulbs, batteries, fans and heaters, lawnmowers, candy, and Christmas decorations. In addition, she helps out at the check-out counter when needed. Carla completed the Dale Carnegie course in public speaking and human relations. Besides her interests in golf, bowling, gardening (especially flowers), she’s great at telling "blonde" jokes about herself! When she broke 60 in golf a couple of years ago, she made sure the rest of the employees knew about it! Since then, she's even broken 50!
